Raffia Console Table

Raffia is a type of grass and is most often found as a wall treatment.

In this unique piece of furniture I was able to take this material and wrap a modern console table with it.

First thing I do is model the piece in 3D

Once that is done I decide my best choice of joinery.

Here I am using a Torsion box method to keep down on weight and increase strength.

After sanding and filling gaps and screw holes the console table is ready to be wrapped in the raffia.

After careful wrapping its off to the client!
